In this group workshop students (11y.o and up) will participate in a variety of performance exercises geared towards developing original work. Through free-writing, improvisation, theater and dance games, and collaboration, students will create material for themselves that will be used later in a larger group piece. Students will share their work with each other in an open and constructive atmosphere. The end result of the workshop will be an original group performance.
So what is the educational value:
Learning to create performances is an empowering way to learn more about the various aspects of being in front of an audience. Composing performances gives students the responsibility that comes with presenting original work. It’s especially useful for directors and actors to know how performances come into being because it gives a greater understanding of the work as a whole.
