Author in Residence Rachael Paulson
Rachael Paulson is a published children’s author with a degree in early childhood and special education.
She has created her own unique lessons to teach children with learning disabilities using art,
music and body movements. She found that her programs improved speech
language and also both large and small muscle control. She also has worked with gifted
students. She has also used creative methods in working with children who were grieving.
Having lost her own brother at a young age, Paulson understands the healing power of the arts in
dealing with trauma and grief. Her work with teens in mentoring them by involving them
in her work has proven to help them on their paths to discovering their life talents.
The author is the founder of a nonprofit organization called Hands on the World Global. She works to create safe havens for orphan villages in developing countries by organizing water and food programs with communities that she then adopts long term.
She has worked with the United Nations Programs for children and is asked to speak world wide
about her work in South Africa and Haiti.
She offers programs to scout groups, school groups and as an author has traveled the USA and abroad
with her many workshops and book signings. She offers both private and group lessons.
Her work in creative writing is unique as she combines her adventures and travels with the writing process allowing students to advance in creative song writing, short stories and poems
Her environmental books and workshop have been presented along with Jane Goodall, Barbara Bush,
and also acknowledged by Al Gore. She has been on ABC news in the USA as well as in South Africa.
She has been named citizen of the year in Sparta, was awarded by the National Groundwater
Association for her work and was selected as distinguished alumni this year at Kean University.
She is presently nominated for the World of Children Award.
